Frequently Asked Questions

Can't find the answer you're looking for? I'm happy to answer any and all questions you may have.

General

What information should I include in my order?

The short answer: The more information you can give me up front, the sooner I can get started. But as long as I can get in touch with you, we can work out the details later.

The long answer: The "Hire Me" form is designed to capture all of the information I need to send you a quote or start work directly.

Do you take projects over 5000 words?

Absolutely! However, I prefer to discuss the scope, timeline and pricing directly with clients before accepting these projects. This procedure ensures that I can devote the same time and energy to longer projects as to shorter ones. If, for some reason, I cannot commit to a more extensive project at a particular time, I will let you know as soon as possible so that you can find someone who can.

I'm ready to place my order. How do I get in touch?

Are the quotes you provide binding?

For you: Absolutely not! If the quote is not to your liking for any reason, you are not bound to accept it.

For me:
I will honour the rates and prices on all quotes I issue for one year after they are issued. If I have availability, I will also honour the agreed-upon timeline. If I do not have the availability I need to devote the same time and care to your project as I would have when I initially issued the quote, I will let you know and do my best to accommodate your needs.

My documents contain sensitive information. Are you willing to sign an NDA?

In general, yes. However, I ask that you send a sample NDA for review before I can accept your project.

Pricing and Payment

Which forms of payment do you accept?

I currently accept payments via Paypal and Interac e-transfer (within Canada). If neither of these methods work for you, please reach out with your preferred payment method and I will try my best to accommodate you.

When do I pay you?

For new clients, I generally request 25% of the fee upfront (i.e. when I accept your project), with the remainder payable within 14 days of delivery. Orders under $50 do not require upfront deposits. If there is a reason why you cannot operate in this way, please get in touch.

How do you calculate prices?

For editing and translation services, I round the original text's length to the nearest 100 words and apply the appropriate per-word rate to that number. For content writing, I apply the applicable per-word rate to the requested length, rounded to the nearest 100 words. If the final length of the piece is shorter than the requested length by more than 50 words, I will adjust the price accordingly. However, if the final piece is longer than the requested length, I will honour the original price unless you have asked for a change. I will always notify you in advance if a request that you make will increase the price of a service.

Do you provide invoices?

Yes, I issue invoices for payments. If you have specific needs regarding the format or information included on your invoice, please reach out directly.

In which currency are your prices listed?

All my prices are listed in CAD (including on invoices). If you have questions related to conversion rates, please reach out.

I'm not comfortable paying you directly. Are your services available on freelance platforms?

Yes! You can find me on Fiverr and Upwork. If you need help finding the service you're looking for on your platform of choice, please reach out and I will create a custom service for you. Please note that prices may be higher when using these platforms to account for associated fees and varying currency conversion rates.

Why do you list your rates per 1000 words when you use the per-word rate to calculate costs and round to the nearest 100 words?

As a client, I've found per-word prices to be unintuitive and sometimes frustrating to work with. All my rates are also listed as per-word values for those of you whose mental math is better than mine.

About My Project

I have a tight deadline. Can you do a faster turnaround?

I can often accept time-sensitive projects, but I cannot guarantee this service. To ensure that I can devote the same time and energy to all the projects I take on, I evaluate quick-turnaround projects on a case-by-case basis. I will always confirm the timeline and price with the client before beginning the work.

My project is longer than 5000 words. Do you work on longer projects?

Absolutely! Before taking on these projects, I prefer to discuss the scope, timeline and pricing directly with clients.

I have multiple small projects. Do you offer discounts for bulk orders?

Yes, I can offer discounts if you have many small projects, especially if they are related. Please include the relevant details in the order form, and I will send you a quote.
